This country updates quarantine and declaration requirements for imported sea containers
Shipping containers are the main mode of international trade and transportation, and also an important carrier for the cross-border spread of animal and plant epidemics and the invasion of alien species.
New Zealand is one of the countries with a relatively complete biosecurity system in the world, and has always attached great importance to entry inspection and quarantine. In order to prevent animal and plant epidemics, diseases and invasive alien species from being introduced with shipping containers, New Zealand promulgated and implemented the “National Sea Container Entry Hygiene Standards” (hereinafter referred to as “Sea Container Hygiene Standards”) in 2003. After 2009, 2018, Multiple revisions in 2019, 2020, and 2022.
On August 19, 2022, New Zealand’s Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI)’s latest revised sea container hygiene standards came into effect. In this revision, New Zealand has adjusted the quarantine and declaration requirements for all inbound shipping containers, mainly as follows.
Revised Quarantine Requirements

Sea containers from all countries entering New Zealand, including those in transit through New Zealand, must meet the “clean on arrival” requirement;

For sea containers from Italy (except for transshipment), the implementation time of the quarantine requirements for stink bugs is changed from September 1st to April 30th of the following year

Added quarantine declaration for imported shipping containers, the specific format is as follows.

Added Schedule – Chamomile Sensitive Cargo. If the imported goods belong to the goods sensitive to the quarantine treatment method of the stink bug, MPI needs to be notified in writing when submitting the application for customs clearance. The attached table is as follows:
