ONE set up a new company!

The new company will support some of the operational functions of ONE’s global headquarters in Singapore and is expected to expand ONE’s global network.

On December 11, Ocean Network Shipping (ONE) announced the establishment of a new subsidiary, ONE DEJIMA CO.LTD, in Nagasaki, Japan.

The new company, with a registered capital of 100 million yen (about $680,000), will officially open for business in April 2024 to support some of the operational functions of ONE’s global headquarters in Singapore.

 

In addition, the new company will expand ONE’s global network and contribute to Japan’s economic revitalization.

 

The company cannot run without people, and in addition to launching new companies, ONE has also expanded its investment in human resources.

 

In conjunction with the establishment of the new company, ONE also said that it has established an Advanced Ocean Container Shipping Engineering Laboratory (AOCTEL) in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, to train talents with specialized skills.

 

In September, ONE also revealed that it expects to hire 500 employees for its global and regional headquarters over the next five years.

 

On the mass hiring, ONE explained at the time that given the complexity of the shipping industry, the company was experiencing a growing need for people with a wide range of specialist skills. Despite the technological advancement of the shipping industry, it is still dependent on human expertise.

 

According to official data, ONE currently operates in 47 countries and regions around the world, with 211 offices and 7,736 employees, with global headquarters in Singapore and regional headquarters in Hong Kong, China, the United Kingdom, the United States and Brazil.

 

As of today (December 12, 2023), ONE has a total capacity of 17,82283TEU and 231 ships, ranking sixth in the world.
