Fire broke out on the transport ship!

At around 4 a.m. on June 4, 2025, multiple international media outlets and shipping regulatory agencies confirmed that the car carrier "Morning Midas", which had departed from a domestic port and was carrying approximately 3,000 vehicles (including about 800 electric vehicles), suddenly caught fire in the Pacific Ocean. The incident occurred about 300 nautical miles (approximately 483 kilometers) southwest of Adak Island, Alaska.

According to the information available, the "Morning Midas" vessel involved in the fire incident set sail from Shanghai Port, China on May 26th, passed through Yantai Port (TBC), and was originally scheduled to arrive at Lazaro Cardenas Port in Mexico on June 15th. This voyage was mainly for the transportation of Chinese-made electric vehicles to North America. Although the specific brands and models of the electric vehicles on board are not yet clear, media reports generally suggest that they may include products from major Chinese new energy vehicle manufacturers.
Currently, the US Coast Guard has initiated an investigation process and is coordinating efforts for salvage, environmental risk assessment, and debris disposal. Zodiac Maritime stated, "Our top priority at present is to ensure the safety of the crew and prevent marine environmental pollution." With the significant increase in China's exports of new energy vehicles, such "maritime risks" are drawing deep concern from shipowners, insurance companies, classification societies, and port operators!
